Day 12 - Portrait

Twelfth Day, Portrait.

I've already done a self portrait and my husband's camera shy. So I used a squirrel for my portrait personality. It's so cute.

Day 11 - Landscape

Eleventh Day, Landscape.

This is a panorama landscape of the field just over from us. It turned out great, nice and green and very little horizon.

Day 10 - Lens Flare

Tenth Day, Lens Flare.

I've never heard of this but I guess that I can't say this anymore. I'm learning new things everyday because of this challenge.

Today's was a Lens Flare, it took a lot of test shots to capture, but I did it :) I got the picture. Its of a tree and not a person but I got it :)

Day 9 - Bokeh

Ninth Day, Bokeh.

A definition for Bokeh is... the visual quality of the out-of-focus areas of a photographic image, especially as rendered by a particular lens.

I've seen this term allot since I started this challenge but never knew what it was... but as I've recently learned I've taken allot of pictures with Bokeh.

Day 8 - Sunset

Eighth Day, Sunset.

I've been taking these pictures since a long time ago, since I had a film camera. Please note that again, I didn't skip a day, I took the picture yesterday but am posting it today because I am still getting over being under the weather. I'd like to be running around with energy like a child has... but alas a seasonal cold has me.

I took this picture as the sun was setting through the trees. The gentlemen who gives descriptions for the 30 day challenge recommended to have silhouettes in the picture. Do I ever! I couldn't have planned this if I tried.

Day 7 - Silhouette

Seventh Day, Silhouette

Today's challenge was a challenge. I've never shot a Silhouette picture before or used that camera setting. My husband let me use a part of his collection and helped setting up the back lights to make the silhouette. Anybody recognize the shape of the figure I used?

I definitely learned something new that will present interesting opportunities for upcoming pictures! Yay!

Day 5 - High-Angle & Day 6 - Low-Angle

Fifth Day, High-Angle.

I didn't skip a day of the challenge. I took the picture yesterday but was under the weather and didn't want to use my computer at all. I am not feeling much better today but I know that I committed and need to do this, sick or not.

High-Angle is when you shoot the picture down from somewhere high... they recommend leaving little to no sky in the horizon of the picture. As I am afraid of heights, I went with a simple High-Angle using my back deck as the height.

Sixth Day, Low-Angle

Day 5's challenge has you eliminating the sky from your pictures (basically taking the picture looking down) and Day 6's challenge has you eliminating the ground (looking up, basically as up as you can go while you are close to the ground. Sneaky, Sneaky. And as a side note, after learning about the Rule of Thirds, I always use the grid to line up my pictures now.

Day 4 - Texture

Fourth Day, Texture.

This one was a whole new ball game for me and I am sure that there will be others. Today was texture. From what I understood from the article, Texture makes your eyes think that it carries on and on, past the picture.

Day 3 - Black and White

Third day, Black and White.

This picture has a story behind it. Originally I was going to bribe my black cat into some awesome position and snap a pic. He's great in black and white. BUT... my plans changed this morning...

Last night we had an incident with the cat leaving a living mouse in our kitchen and put it outside. I steered the dogs away when I discovered it in the same place as we'd put it, after it was evicted. This morning on a wild hunch I went to the spot to make sure it had left and found the mouse was still there. Had stayed there all night. It was just a scared baby... My husband says that when it comes to animals, I can't leave any baby animals around to get hurt... I took a picture of the mouse, then relocated it to a spot where it would be safe and not in the house anymore!

Day 2 - Rule of Thirds

Second day of the challenge. Today was the rule of thirds.

It wasn't really something that I'd ever heard about. I knew about the grid on my cellphone camera, but never used it. I used it today and I think the picture turned out decent.

The left building would be on the line and that was my anchor point. I picked the side of the building that was between the two and had a shadow.

Day 1 - Self Portrait

I have decided to take a 30 day Photography Challenge. Today was my first day and a self portrait.

I chose to use my front yard with the sun setting behind me to the right while wearing the tunic that belongs to my favorite video game character! As far as pictures of myself goes, this one turned out pretty good. I've never used the timer on my camera before and took a while to find it but when I did... I was set. I think that I centered myself okay too :)

Canada's 150th
In the RM where we live, we like many others held a Canada Day celebration. This year was specail because Canada turned 150. I took my camera to our RM celebrations and these are my favorites from the fireworks. I took 450 pictures but these twelve turned out stunning.

Black Cats...

You've seen his other pictures if you've gone back or seen the post after I posted it but I love taking pictures of our black cat "Skiddy". He skids all over the place when he's running about and playing.

I love taking his picture in black and white or grayscale. It really makes him pop. Skiddy was standing on the stairs with this look like "come and follow me to the top..."

Inspiration

There’s been allot going on in my life lately, but I am preparing a picture post. Inspiration is everywhere these days, it’s out in spades. Every direction I turn, there’s a reason to have a camera.

I really love my camera. From the moon to the sun, the clouds to the soft sky, the trees and leaves to the grass. There’s birds, flowers, people and more. The world has bloomed in Canada and it’s really a sight.

I am learning more about my camera, its functions and features. It’s part of the reason why nothing has been posted recently. But please experience my other posts and comment with your opinions, if you want.

If you are in Winnipeg, Manitoba or surrounding area, I am looking for experience to get off the ground. I am willing to take pictures for free if you are looking for a photographer. Free pictures for experience.

Over the Moon...

Lately, I have been looking at the stars, watching for them through the clouds, using the moonlight to take my dogs outside before bed. I have always loved the stars and moon, the sun and clouds, the grass and trees.

I love them all and as you know I have been on an learning to create and edit pictures spree. I think that its important to know aspects of Photography editing, even if you don't use them.

This picture is to put stars in your eyes the way that I have stars in mine. Its to show you a galaxy, created out of flowers and to open your imagination. :)

Fun with Editing

I have discovered during a late sleepless night that I have a knack for editing pictures that I take. Its actually really fun to do and certain programs or device apps make it a snap, saying that makes me think of the Mary Poppins song "a spoonful of sugar".

Here are two photos, half original and half edited. Both photos are taken by me and are my property, I wanted to show you how far I have come.

The original (on top) didn't strike me as anything but what it really was, All I first saw was an ice like texture and thought that I could make something of it. I was surprised when I turned it into a space shot. :)

This was taken yesterday (the left half) in a store parking lot, when I looked up and saw the clouds and sun after rain all day... I was inspired.

Playing with flowers.

I have been learning how to edit, modify and change pictures. I had taken this one of these gorgeous flowers when I saw them and decided that I wanted to sample my skills. I think that I have done very well.
